9 Google Business Profile fixes that bring in more calls
Simple fixes for your Google Business Profile that help you show up on Maps and in AI answers, plus what to do if it gets suspended.

For many local businesses, the Google Business Profile brings in more calls than the website. It is what people see when they search on Google Maps, and it is one of the main places AI assistants look when recommending local businesses. Yet most profiles we review are only half finished.
Here are nine fixes you can make yourself, most of them in under ten minutes.
1. Choose the right primary category
Your primary category has a big influence on which searches you appear for. Pick the most specific category that describes your main service, for example “Emergency locksmith service” rather than just “Locksmith” if that is what you mainly do. Add secondary categories for your other services.
2. Fill in every service
Add each service you offer, with a short description and a price where it makes sense. This helps Google match you to more specific searches and gives customers a reason to call you rather than the next business.
3. Set your service areas properly
If you travel to customers, list the suburbs and regions you actually cover. Do not list half of Australia: it rarely helps and can make your profile look less relevant.
4. Keep your hours accurate, including holidays
Nothing loses a customer faster than turning up or calling when you are shut. Update your hours for public holidays and the Christmas break. Google often shows “Hours might differ” when holiday hours are missing.
5. Add real photos, regularly
Photos of your work, your team, your vehicles and your premises build trust. Real photos almost always beat stock images. Add a few every month: it keeps your profile looking active.
6. Ask for reviews, and reply to all of them
Reviews are one of the strongest signals for local search. Make asking part of your routine: send a short message with your review link after each job. Reply to every review, and keep replies to negative reviews calm and helpful. Future customers read those replies.
7. Use posts and updates
Google Business Profile lets you publish short updates, offers and events. They are a simple way to show you are active and to promote what is new, such as a seasonal service or a special offer.
8. Answer the common questions
Customers can ask questions on your profile, and anyone can answer them. Add the questions you are asked most often, with clear answers, so the right information is there from the start.
9. Match your website exactly
Your business name, address and phone number should be exactly the same on your profile and your website. Link your profile to the most relevant page of your website, and make sure that page loads quickly on a phone.
What if your profile gets suspended?
Suspensions happen more often than most people think, sometimes for something as small as a business name that includes extra keywords, or an address Google does not accept. A suspended profile disappears from Maps, and the calls stop.
Getting reinstated means finding the likely reason, fixing it and submitting a well prepared appeal with the right evidence. We offer a Google Business Profile suspension recovery service for $1,799 + GST. Google makes the final decision, so no one can guarantee reinstatement, but a careful appeal gives you the best chance.
